Q. How do I find full text articles?

To find full text articles follow these steps.

1) Go to the library's main page: https://www.apu.edu/library/

2) Scroll down to the blue box and in the Search Everything box type your topic and click Search. You may be asked to be authenticated. Simply follow the directions.

3) The next page will give you results. Now narrow on the left by clicking the box next to: Peer-Reviewed, Academic Journals, English, the Publish Date (example: 2019-2021) and click apply,

4) For full text, click the PDF icon or the HTML Full Text link. If no PDF icon or HTML Full Text link, click on the "Full Text Finder" button.

5) In the "Full Text Finder Results" page, there are three ways to get full text:

  • The first way - If there are one or more links at the very top of the page, click the first link. If that doesn't work, go back and if there are more links, click on that. If there are no links at the very top or the link doesn't bring up the full text, go to The second way.
  • The second way - At the "Full Text Finder Result" page, under "Article Browse" click on a link that has Google Scholar in the title. This takes you to Google Scholar. If you see a link to the right of the record, clicking the link will bring up the full text of the article. If there is no link to the right of the record, sometimes clicking the title might bring up the full text (but more than likely you'll be asked to PAY for the article. You never have to pay for an article as long as you're a student at APU or LAPU because of The third way to get the full text).
  • The third way - go back to "Full Text Finder Result" page. Under "ILL / Interlibrary Loan for APU patrons" click the link that says Request free copy of this article through ArticleReach. This takes you to a form, all filled out. Scroll to the bottom and in the left corner click Submit. In 48 hours or less you will get an email with a link to the PDF of your requested article.

For any question about these instructions or anything regarding finding full text please contact your Subject Specialists.
