Yes, we are changing our library system to a new company. What you see is the new look.
To help with orienting you to the new look, below is one set of steps using the database Academic Search Premier. There are other search approaches such as Search Everything not explained here. Academic Search Premier will give you results that are peer reviewed and full text on almost any topic.
1) Go to the library's main page: https://www.apu.edu/library/
2) Scroll down a little and click on the tab "Articles and Databases."
3) Click on the link "All Databases A-Z."
4) Scroll down a little and click on "Academic Search Premier."
5) If you are not yet authenticated, you'll see this box; click the middle section for an LAPU email account and the top section for an APU CAS (Central Authentication Service) account. For LAPU patrons, if you begin at https://mail.apu.edu you will not see this boxk.
6) Eventually you should see this: Academic Search Premier's search screen.
Type in your topic -- the example is gun control in the united states -- and click OFF the check mark box that says "Also search within the full text of the articles."
7) Next, you'll see something like this screen. Notice how many results you have (2,366 records in this example). Then narrow by scrolling down a little and on the left click the box next to Peer Reviewed. Scroll down again and on the left click in the left box next to "Publication Date" and change it to something like 2019 (click outside the box to make the search happen).
8) The results are automatically sorted by "relevance" which means the more useful records are likely at the top of the list. For full text, simply click on the PDF icon (or HTML Full Text) and save the article to your computer's hard drive. Or if neither are available, click on the "Full Text Finder" link.
9) In the Full Text Finder Result page there are at least three ways to get full text of an article.
Any link to the right of a Google Scholar record, when clicked, will usually bring up the full text.
10) When you see the following screen, click LIBRARY STUDENT, STAFF, & FACULTY LOGIN.
11) A form comes up with all your article's information (like Journal Title and Issue/Number). Double check it's all there and feel free to add other information (such as Where did you learn about this item? In this example "From the APU library database Academic Search Premier").
12) Scroll to the bottom and click Submit request. In up to 7-10 working days the article will come to your APU or LAPU email as a PDF.
This is the end of this LibAnswer.
